GIFT BUYING GUIDE
At sketch kids we’ve got lots to choose from if you’re looking for a great gift. Anything for newborns to size 16 or accessories

Our mix and match philosophy makes is easy to find a stylish and useful present from anywhere in our collections but here are some tips.

Gifts For Newborns
There are some important things to consider when choosing a gift for a newborn and a new Mum.

Is this baby number one or two or even three? Where the baby comes in the family changes the kind of thing you may like to give. Has Mum given away all her baby things to friends and relatives? Is this a long awaited girl in a family of boys or a long awaited boy in a family of girls? All these things will affect what you should choose.

So here are some helpful hints :
• Remember that most babies grow quickly and so try and choose something that will still fit for at least 3 months for a newborn and 6 months for a slightly older baby.
• Always try and go shopping armed with information such as the birth weight of the baby. If you also know the baby’s length, even better.

Gifts For Girls
Girls love fashion no matter what age, so stick to fun attractive prints for youngies. For the older girl, Big prints along the surfy range should be safe.

Gifts For Boys
Boys at any age like there clothing to look worn and old, so we’ve made a range to compliment any wardrobe.

Remember that Mums love receiving great pieces that revitalise wardrobe favourites but also add a real sense of new season style.

GIFT VOUCHERS

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Our pure cotton-knit garments are sized to allow for shrinkage - the fit should be comfortable allowing for growth. Expect cotton-knit garments to shrink approximately 5% in the first wash. Woven garments eg. jeans, drills, shirts, and most dresses will only shrink a couple of centimetres. Remember to wash dark colours separately! Hang out immediately, out of direct sunlight. (Do not leave coloured garments together when wet.) Never, Never Tumble Dry, Cotton garments, otherwise they will shrink!

WASHING TIPS
Want some help in the laundry? No we can’t come and do it for you but we’ve got some very practical down to earth advice on how to keep your sketch kids clothes looking as good as new no matter how much dirt your kids dish up!

BUSY MUMS WILL WANT TO USE THE TUMBLE DRYER
We know that no matter what the care instructions say on the garment, we know that from time to time your very busy life will mean that you’ll want to use the dryer. All our care instructions recommend against using the tumble dryer and of course we can’t take responsibility when you do, but here are some tips.
• Never, never, never use the tumble dryer on a ‘Hot’ setting. You’ll cook your clothes! If you are going to use the dryer then use the ‘Cool’ cycle.
• 100% Cotton garments will always shrink as Cotton is a natural fibre. The Australian standard is 5% shrinkage. We’ve allowed for this when designing our clothes and our fit is naturally generous. When tumble drying you can expect up to 6% shrinkage whereas line dried garments should only shrink 3-4%.

DON’T GET YOUR NICKERS IN A KNOT
Don’t waste time in the laundry untangling your washing. If you are washing anything with a draw cord then remember to tie the cord ends in a bow before you chuck it in to the machine. This will stop the cord tangling and tying up the rest of the load.

WANT TO KEEP OUR CAPS AND VISORS LOOKING GOOD AS NEW?
They will get dirty and when they do you’re reluctant to chuck them in to the machine even on a gentle cycle as they will eventually get bent out of shape. Here’s a tip. Instead of using the washing machine, try the dishwashing machine. Just wash them for one cycle in the dishwasher – without dirty dishes of course – and they will keep their shape.

WE KNOW YOU LOVE TO CUT OFF YOUR LAUNDRY CARE LABELS…
but do keep them as particularly with some of our more lush garments, it’s important to remember all the details. Why not keep a plastic container in the laundry and place them in there if you cut them off the garment - of course don’t forget to write on the label which garment it came from!

STUBBORN STAINS!
Here’s a few general rules of thumb when faced with those inevitable stains.
• For non-greasy stains never use hot water. Only use cold water as hot water actually sets the stain making it almost impossible to get out.
• It’s usually better to attack a stain from the back of the fabric rather than the front. By doing this you avoid actually spreading the stain even deeper into the fabric.

CHOC ATTACK!
It never seems to go just in their mouths! It always ends up on sleeves and tummies and everywhere else. Here are some great ideas for helping you get those dastardly chockie stains out.

Remember that the key to chocolate is that it has a waxy consistency so first put the garment in the freezer for a few minutes. This will ice the stain. Then run it under cold water to remove the chocolate from the fabric. You will need to persist to get rid of all the chocolate. Then rub with warm soapy water to remove any final remnants of the stain.

GRASS STAINS
Never leave a garment with a grass stain for later. The sooner you get on to it the better the result. Once the garment has been washed check the site of the stain and if it hasn’t completely gone don’t let the garment dry as that will set the stain.

AND REMEMBER AS YOU LOOK AT THAT HUGE PILE OF LAUNDRY …….
AT SKETCH KIDS WE BELIEVE THAT A GRUBBY CHILD IS A CHILD WHO’S HAD A GREAT DAY!
